Yasemin is an IP litigator, Turkish trademark and patent attorney who has 10 years’ experience practising IP law in Turkey. After completing her internship in one of the biggest national media groups having several newspapers and TV channels under its umbrella and then becoming experienced in a reputable IP firm, she joined to OFO VENTURA as partner.
She has been advising on a wide range of IP issues and transactions regarding trademarks, patents, designs, domain names and tradenames. She advises foreign and multinational companies from various industries in the fields of fashion, automotive, software, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, media, electronics and cosmetics in implementing IP protection, litigation and enforcement strategies and portfolio management.
She represents clients in complex trademark and patent infringement and invalidation cases, design and trademark cancellation actions, unfair competition matters, interlocutory and precautionary injunctions, negotiations, co-existence settlements and licensing agreements, as well as prosecution of trademark and design rights before the Turkish PTO.
Yasemin advises clients and has involved in court actions on data exclusivity conflicts as well.
She has wide experience in building anti-counterfeiting strategies, including customs monitoring, raids, seizures and settlement negotiations with counterfeiters.
MEMBERSHIP AND COMMITTEES: Yasemin is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and MARQUES.
She is a member of INTA anti-counterfeiting committee and has been selected to IP Experts Group to assist the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) IP Advisory Board.
She regularly writes on IP-related topics for international and local publications.
RANKINGS: Yasemin has been recognized in several editions of the World Trademark Review 1000 among the Top Trademark Professionals in Turkey in the field of litigation and anti-counterfeiting. Its 2019 edition notes about Yasemin that “She is a smooth negotiator who thrives when handling complicated disputes.” She has also been named as a “Rising Star” in the recent Patent and Trademark editorials of Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars.
EDUCATION: She holds a Master of Law (2017) degree from Galatasaray University with the thesis on “Data Exclusivity Protection and the Effects of Bolar Extension on This Protection”. She took her Bachelor’s Degree (Law) from Marmara University Law School (2010). Yasemin is fluent in English.
