Under normal conditions, if you are not faced with any refusal or opposition, obtaining a trademark registration certificate takes between 10 and 12 Months.
To file an application with the Turkish Patent Institute, we require the following information and documents :
1. Wordmark : Correct spelling of the word
Device mark : 10 original prints of the mark (dimensions 5x5 cm or 7x7 cm )
2. The name, address, telephone and facsimile number of the applicant,
3. List of goods and/or services claimed,
4. Power of Attorney.
The power form should simply be signed by the representative of the applicant, and it should bear the name and title of the signatory and the company’s seal. No legalization is required. To print out the power form please go to Power Form, please go to
The Turkish Patent Institute publishes an official bulletin every month listing newly accepted trademark applications. From the publication date a 3 Months period starts for third parties who would like to file oppositions.
Differs from some countries, after an application is filed, Turkish Patent Institute examines the application for grounds of refusal.
If an application is refused by the examiner, an opposition period starts. After notification of the examiner’s refusal, an applicant has two Months to file an opposition to the decision of the examiner.
According to the Turkish Trademark Law, a trademark is registered for a period of 10 years from the date of filing the application. Registrations may be renewed for additional ten-year periods.
